Effexor Seems Just as Good as HRT in Easing Hot Flashes

Luckily I mosty got mine at night but since on this there are very rare. It has been a life saver for me along with this site. HRT wise I had to go through about 3 before finding the right one which suits me and I have been on that for a couple of years now. There is no shame on taking AD's if that's what it takes to make one function and get back to some kind of normality. You will know if you need HRT if your bone density test.... It helps a bit- but gives me very weird dreams and makes sleep very unsettling. HRT did not work for me and throughout my body which make me feel quite nauseated. Tried moving it to the morning but it got a bit worse. BUT, then I started having what I would call side effects: itching on my scalp, my underarms, eye brows and other warmer, damper areas. I also have this strange headache that is making me kinda dizzy and unsteady feeling. Maybe I should try it at bedtime, and move the anastrazole as well? It's like I can't focus on one thing because my eyes and whole head feel like they are moving. I am squinting my eyes as I type this because I just feel so weird! I went up in dose on my in the past and am now taking sertraline. • Venlafaxine inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. • The reuptake effects of venlafaxine are dose dependent. At low doses it blocks only serotonin neurotransmission. At higher doses venlafaxine blocks neurotransmission of both serotonin and noradrenaline. • Sertraline undergoes extensive hepatic metabolism by CYP enzymes. The drug is primarily metabolized by CYP3A4 to its active metabolite N-desmethylsertraline and several other metabolites. Nevertheless both sertraline and venlafaxine may lead to significant weight gain. • Discontinuation syndrome Sertraline may be associated with a lower symptom burden during treatment discontinuation Hot flashes and night sweats are common vasomotor symptoms during the peri- and early post-menopausal period.
