Ciprofloxacin can cause serious side effects, including tendon problems, nerve damage, serious mood or behavior changes, or low blood sugar. Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have symptoms such as: headache, hunger, irritability, numbness, tingling, burning pain, confusion, agitation, paranoia, problems with memory or concentration, thoughts of suicide, or sudden pain or movement problems in any of your joints. In rare cases, ciprofloxacin may cause damage to your aorta, which could lead to dangerous bleeding or death. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of tendon rupture or tendinitis (a condition in which the tissue connecting muscles to the bones becomes inflamed) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history or family history of myasthenia gravis (weakness and rapid fatigue of muscles under voluntary control) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. If the medicine is used, the infant should be monitored closely for any adverse effects. Use of this medicine will increase the risk of developing tendinitis or tendon rupture during the treatment or several months after the treatment.
